Yeap just tried it, the madwifi driver did not work and the led still won't come on. I deactivated it and went back to the original drivers. Is there any other way?

Hey ddrichardson,
Thanks for the reply. Could you point me in the right direction of getting the led lights to flicker? I would probably try it once just so I know how to do it and then leave it.
Noted about the front mic, so I just have to carry a microphone around when I want to skype. All in all this netbook was relatively painless.
Thanks again for the reply, appreciate it.
Cheers

Hey ddRichardson,
Thanks very much for the link. Currently I am using the ath5k method, if I were to use madwifi , would you know if there is anything i need to blacklist? Because I did try to use madwifi before and wireless was not working so I swapped back to arth5k.
Thanks again for the help

Hey Putrid,
I think I had the same problem when i downloaded the AR813X-linux-v1.0.0.8.tar.gz driver. Try again. I eventually got one that was workable.
I did a gunzip first before i untarred it. I had the output of
gzip: stdin: decompression OK, trailing garbage ignored
as well.
PM me your email and I will send the one i downloaded to you.
Cheers
Suo
Code:sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test$ ls AR813X-linux-v1.0.0.8.tar.gz sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test$ gunzip AR813X-linux-v1.0.0.8.tar.gz sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test$ tar xvf AR813X-linux-v1.0.0.8.tar sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test$ cd src sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test/src$ make sso@aspirenova:~/Downloads/linux-files/test/src$ sudo su [sudo] password for sso: root@aspirenova:/home/sso/Documents/Downloads/linux-files/test/src# make install root@aspirenova:/home/sso/Documents/Downloads/linux-files/test/src# cd /lib/modules/2.6.28-12-generic/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e/ root@aspirenova:/lib/modules/2.6.28-12-generic/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e# insmod ./arl1e.ko and thats it it should make the network manager see the network card. I believe that you have to do this each time your kernel updates.. i am guessing until 2.6.30 where i believe this driver will then be supported.

Hey DDRichardson,
Sorry to bother again, but do you know the bug report number for the front mic issue for the acer aspire one D250? I would really like to be able resolve the mic and not have to carry a microphone for a netbook around just to use skype.
Thanks for any help I can get.
